How Did This Accident Occur?
Most people who read about this crash likely would assume it was caused by driver error. That may prove to be the case, but more than 30 years of being involved in accident investigations has taught me that facts are a much better basis for conclusions than assumptions. Those facts will come from a full investigation of this crash.
Investigators should be able to reconstruct this crash by poring over physical evidence, witness statements, data from the Jeep and any available video footage. Cell phone records could show what the driver was doing at the time.
An outside expert likely will be needed if authorities suspect a mechanical issue contributed to this crash because most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training for a forensic examination of the vehicle, in my experience.
The investigation should present a clear picture of what happened on Magnolia Drive.
