How Did This Accident Occur?
When most people see single-vehicle car accidents, they might immediately think of possible causes that trace back to the driver making a mistake. Frankly, those tend to be the more common factors—distracted driving, unsafe speeds, and fatigue, to name some examples. But I’ve seen plenty of situations where drivers had little to no control over the crash, and that’s why it’s important that investigations are thorough.
For example, what if the vehicle had some kind of defect? Faulty brakes or issues with a steering column have and can cause serious car accidents. However, they rarely ever come up from preliminary crash investigations. It usually takes extensive analysis from independent professionals to properly rule out possible vehicle defects, and I tend to only see that when families directly seek out independent investigations.
I’m not saying a defect caused this crash, just to be clear. However, I wouldn’t rule it out without knowing there were proper investigations first. It’s up to the evidence to tell the story. I see no reason why this crash would be an exception.
