Taylor County, TX — February 8, 2024, a woman was killed in a single-car accident at approximately 2:30 p.m. along Interstate Highway 20.
According to authorities, a 38-year-old woman was traveling in an eastbound Chevy Silverado pickup truck along I.H. 20 in the vicinity west of County Road 406 when the accident took place.
The causal factors that led to the accident are still unclear. Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, the pickup truck failed to safely negotiate a lane shift toward the right. It reportedly continued straight and went off of the left side of the roadway and entered the median where it struck a guardrail. The vehicle came to a stop facing north partially in the shoulder and partially in the inside of the two lanes.
The woman incurred reportedly fatal injuries as a result of the wreck and was declared deceased at the scene. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
