How Did This Accident Occur?
If there is one thing I have come to understand over the three decades in which I’ve been working car accident cases, it’s that wrecks do not just happen for no reason. If people are willing to put in the work—to ask why and and not cut corners just to fill in a blank and move on—then the people who deserve the answers will actually end up getting them. What it comes down to is investigation. Are authorities looking at every angle, no matter how outlandish, instead of relying on the “driver error” blanket statements?
Was there a tire blowout? What about a steering malfunction? Did the brakes give out, for some reason? Did the throttle get stuck? All of these questions and countless more can be ruled out with an in-depth vehicle inspection. However, those don’t routinely happen; investigators have to go the extra mile to make sure they get done. Correct me if I’m off base, but if those affected by this crash felt the authorities were not doing what was necessary to peel back the layers and get real answers, then it might be necessary to bring in a third party investigator; that way, those who deserve the answers might actually get them.
