How Did This Accident Occur?
Two vehicles traveling the same direction usually collide when someone is on their phone not paying attention or when they’re going too fast to slow down. It’s possible that happened here. But I’ve never approached serious car accidents by looking only at what’s most common. The evidence is what tells the story, and that means considering even unlikely possible factors.
For example, what if one of the vehicles experienced sudden brake failure due to a defect? If there was a manufacturing issue that existed long before the moments leading up to the crash, a driver can easily lose control of their vehicle without any way of avoiding it. But unless experienced accident reconstructionists inspect the vehicle with proper tools, that sort of factor can easily slip through the cracks.
That’s why I always say that even seemingly straight-forward crashes can be very complex. Even just ruling out complex possible factors can require more in-depth investigations than authorities usually do on their own. If authorities here have those tools, that would be good to hear. It’s just not something I’d ever take for granted, and it’s best people avoid jumping to conclusions in the meantime.
Likely or not, do you think a defect could have caused this crash? Let me know why or why not in the comments.
