How Did This Accident Occur?

At this point, it is not clear when this vehicle overturned. Did it make a sudden movement that threw it off balance? Did the driver try to slow down to quickly as it reached the construction zone? Did the Jeep have an issue with its throttle or steering mechanism? A full investigation should allow authorities to provide answers for the families grieving after this crash.

Investigators will work to reconstruct this accident with vehicle data, physical evidence, witness statements and available video footage, while cell phone records could show what the driver was doing at the time.

An in-depth vehicle inspection could determine if the Jeep had a mechanical problem that played a role in the crash, while looking into whether it was designed properly to withstand a rollover accident like this one. Many vehicles aren’t meant to survive the government’s rollover test, not to actually protect the people inside.

This investigation should give the grieving families a clear picture of what happened on U.S. 190.
