Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

I don’t want to comment on this specific crash or the allegations from authorities. Rather, I always have concerns when a crash involves teenagers behind the wheel. Frankly, authorities are more likely to jump to conclusions and fail to give the situation the careful investigation it deserves. This can be bad both for people being blamed by authorities and the victims who need as much clear evidence telling their side of the story as possible to get a fair resolution. Hopefully authorities here treated this crash like any serious, complex accident. It just wouldn’t be too surprising if the age of the drivers here led them to be sloppier than usual.
