Austin, TX — May 6, 2025, Shawn Oveisi was fatally injured as the result of a hit-and-run accident at around 11:38 p.m. along North Mopac Expressway.
According to initial details about the crash, it took place along the 2900 block of North Mopac Expressway.
Investigators said that Shawn Oveisi was on a motorcycle going along northbound lanes of the expressway. The motorcycle and another vehicle crossed paths and collided, and the other vehicle reportedly left the scene.
Shawn Oveisi was seriously injured, but those injuries reportedly proved fatal on May 19. Authorities have not provided a description of the runaway vehicle at this time.

I have to wonder if authorities have taken additional steps to gather evidence about the reported runaway driver here. Even late at night, this is a busy highway, and there may have even been traffic cameras or cameras from nearby businesses or residences that could help reveal details about the suspect hit-and-run driver. The more information in the public eye, the better the chance investigators can identify the driver and see they’re held accountable for their actions.
