Guadalupe County, TX — December 21, 2023, Shannon Balsley was injured in a truck accident just before 3:00 p.m. along Farm to Market 1044.
According to reports, 44-year-old Shannon Balsley and a 45-year-old man were traveling in a southeast bound Toyota Corolla on F.M. 1044 at the intersection of F.M. 78 when the accident took place.

The Corolla was allegedly stopped on the north side of the railroad tracks that run parallel to the northwest side of F.M. 78 because of traffic conditions at the intersection ahead. Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, a southeast bound 18-wheeler collided with the back end of the Corolla. The 18-wheeler fled the scene, according to authorities. Balsley, who had been occupying the front passenger seat of the Corolla, incurred suspected serious injuries as a result of the crash; she was transported to a local medical facility in order to receive treatment.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was eventually located. Authorities are looking into charges of failure to stop and render aid in a collision involving injury. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not currently available. The investigation is ongoing.
