Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When it comes to motorcycle wrecks, my concern is always whether or not authorities were thorough in their investigations. Frankly, authorities don’t often treat these kinds of accidents as a high priority. So if there are factors not immediately apparent at the crash scene, they might overlook them and leave the victim’s loved ones with an incomplete picture of what happened.
For example, there can be mechanical defects, road design flaws, issues with tires, victims illegally over-served by a bar, another reckless driver who caused the crash and left the scene, medical conditions, etc. Common or not, if there isn’t clear evidence to rule out these possibilities, it’s natural that a family might feel they’ve been forgotten about. If authorities here have been more thorough, then perhaps there’s nothing more to address. But if the investigations were as shallow as the countless ones I get calls about, then it could be more thorough independent investigations will be necessary here to get the whole story.
