Bell County, TX — July 1, 2024, four people were injured as the result of a semi-truck accident at around 3:10 a.m. along Interstate 35.
According to initial details about the crash say it happened north of town along northbound lanes of I-35.

Investigators said that four men, ages 69, 52, 38, and 37, were in a Chevy Express van going along northbound lanes of the interstate. From behind, it appears an approaching Kenworth tractor-trailer failed to control speed, hitting the Express van from behind. The van was forced off-road where it overturned.
Due to the crash, three of the van occupants were seriously injured while a fourth had reportedly moderate injuries. The 18-wheeler driver allegedly left the scene on foot after the crash, but authorities apparently found them. It’s unclear what charges, if any, are being considered right now.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
To be blunt, it is highly unusual for a commercial truck driver to leave an accident scene on foot. Usually, they’re trained to stay at the scene and wait for a representative from the company to coach them on what to say to the authorities. A driver leaving the scene raises some serious questions. Is this just a rogue owner-operator that shouldn’t be behind the wheel? Was this driver a recent hire that a company failed to properly vet? Do they have a history of reckless driving? Were they drunk or on drugs? Have they left the scene of any other accidents for which they have yet to be held responsible?
The reason I bring up these questions is because knowing the whole context surrounding a crash is vital for the victims and families involved. People tend to think that when it seems obvious there’s a bad guy, things will be open-and-shut. Well, the hundreds of commercial vehicle accident cases I’ve handled were anything but open-and-shut. Not only does it take extensive evidence and planning to ensure someone is held accountable after a serious accident, but there could also be multiple responsible parties if evidence shows there was an employer here who could have seen something like this coming. Is that something authorities here have looked into yet?
