Summer Shade, KY — December 28, 2023, two students were injured following a semi-truck accident at around 5:52 p.m. along State Route 90 (Summer Shade Road).
According to local news outlets, the crash took place at around 5:52 p.m. in the area of Cemetery Road and Joe Bowles Road.
Officials said that the crash happened after a semi-truck traveling westbound on Route 90 somehow lost control. This led to the truck going over the center line where it crashed with an oncoming pickup. Two people in that pickup, identified as Metcalfe County Schools high school students, were both taken to the hospital. It appears their injuries required surgery, and they continue to recover at this time.
The truck driver had no reported injuries, and it’s unclear if authorities have considered charges or citations. The cause of the crash remains unconfirmed.
