Man Injured in Semi-Truck Accident on Highway 153 in Nolan County, TX

Public details about the accident say that a 28-year-old man was in a Freightliner tractor-trailer going northwest along the highway. Weather conditions were apparently rainy and foggy at the time. There was a scene up ahead involving a tractor-trailer that had previously crashed and was overturned across both lanes of travel. The Freightliner driver apparently did not see this in time, and his 18-wheeler hit the disabled truck.

The driver of the Freightliner had incapacitating injuries due to the accident. The other drivers involved had no confirmed injuries.

Right now, no further information is available. But I’d be curious to know if anyone has information about how the initial crash happened.

This early in the morning, especially during inclement weather, it’s entirely possible the truck driver hurt in this crash had no way to reasonably see and avoid the truck blocking highway lanes. So why was that truck there in the first place?

Was that crash the result of something avoidable, such as speeding, distraction, fatigue, or worn tires? Was there another driver involved in the previous crash whose actions directly led to the second accident? Ultimately, there’s something that created this obstruction, and it’s not a situation I see often where there were no mistakes to address. But to know that for sure, there would have to be a lot more information than what I’ve seen authorities give to the public so far.
