Accident Report

August 12, 2026, one person was injured following a semi-truck accident at around 7:00 p.m. along Interstate 55.

Authorities said in preliminary statements that the crash happened along southbound lanes of the interstate at the Third Street overpass.

According to current reports, a semi-truck and another vehicle going along I-55 somehow crossed paths and collided. The truck hit the overpass in the process.

Due to the crash, one person reportedly sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital. Additional details about the crash are unavailable at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

There are still many unanswered questions here. One thing that’s not entirely clear is if the semi-truck crashed into the overpass as a result of the accident or if it was what set this whole thing into motion. That would have vastly different implications, as a truck hitting an overpass is almost always the result of failed oversights on the part of the truck driver and their employer. If it was a result of an initial crash, though, that brings up typical concerns about distracted driving, speeds, alcohol, fatigue, etc.

Can anyone help shed light on what exactly happened here? Let me know in the comments.
