Accident Report
September 29, 2026, one person was killed following a semi-truck accident at around 4:08 a.m. along Highway 99.
Preliminary information about the accident says that the crash happened near the intersection of Highway 99 and Twin Cites Road (Highway 104).
It appears that a person was in a sedan going along the highway. The sedan and a crash attenuator truck collided, and the car veered off the highway onto the service road/W. Stockton Boulevard. While there, a semi-truck crashed into the car.
Reports say that the driver of the car sustained fatal injuries. There didn’t appear to be any other injuries. Right now, additional details are unavailable.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Without more information, I’m certainly not going to jump to any conclusions about what caused this crash. Something to keep in mind though, is just how many parts there are to an investigation like this. There’s already the obvious challenge of finding out what exactly caused the car and the attenuator truck to collide. It could be something as common as distracted driving or as rare as a vehicle defect.
And beyond that, there’s the secondary collision with the semi-truck. Accident reconstructionists need vehicle data, road markings, witness statements, and any possible video of the crash to create a timeline to find out if the semi-truck driver had any reasonable chance of avoiding that second crash. I’ve seen plenty of situations where truck drivers were just in the wrong place at the wrong time and couldn’t do a thing to avoid a crash. I’ve also seen situations where a vehicle was clearly visible and avoidable, but something like unsafe speeds or cellphone use prevented a truck driver from reacting appropriately. That, too, needs to be part of the investigations.
Hopefully the family affected by this can move forward knowing they’re getting all the facts. The sooner experienced investigators dig into the details, the more information they’re likely to get. In the meantime, if anyone knows more, share your thoughts in the comments below.
