Ector County, TX — October 20, 2024, Scott Burgess is dead and one person is injured in an 18-wheeler accident on I-20 outside Odessa.
An investigation is underway into the fatal accident involving an 18-wheeler that claimed the life of one person and injured another. According to reports, the accident occurred around 11:00 A.M. on I-20 when a tractor-trailer driven by John Collingsworth Jr., 66, of Canton, slowed to avoid an object in the roadway.
It was at this point that the semi driven by Lee Dills, 60, of Shelby NC experienced a blowout and collided with Collingsworth’s truck. The accident caused a passenger of Dill’s, Scott Burgess, 68 of Shelby, NC to be ejected from the vehicle. Reports indicate that Burgess may not have been wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident. First responders pronounced Burgess deceased at the scene, and Dill was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition.
