Emory, TX — May 28, 2024, Scott Balentine was fatally injured in a work accident which took place around 4:00 p.m. on County Road 1495.
The preliminary OSHA statement on the accident says that the incident happened south of Emory.
It appears that 34-year-old Scott Balentine was working on a downed power line. While doing so, Scott Balentine reportedly collapsed and was ultimately pronounced deceased. OSHA did not ever report a suspected cause of death.

I can only hope the victim’s family got answers behind the scenes about what went wrong. However, it would surprise folks how often families end up just as in the dark as everyone else. That’s why many incidents need thorough independent investigations to get the full story. It wouldn’t be unusual if that had to happen here, as well.
