5 Children Injured in School Bus Accident on White Path Road in Gilmer County, GA

Gilmer County, GA — December 16, 2025, five children were injured due to a school bus accident that took place around 7:00 a.m. on White Path Road.

Authorities said in preliminary statements that a Gilmer County Schools bus was carrying multiple children along White Path Road. While doing so, the bus reportedly ran off-road and crashed into a tree. Initial reports say this happened after the driver turned to speak with one of the kids on the bus.

Due to the accident, five children on the bus, ages 5 to 10, were taken to the hospital. The bus driver was also hurt. Injuries were reportedly non-life-threatening.

I’m certainly not here to speculate, though I do wonder what evidence authorities have taken steps to preserve in the early days of the investigations. The first thing that comes to mind for me is video evidence. A lot of buses these days have cameras inside them, and that sort of video could help confirm exactly what was happening in the moments before and during the accident. That sort of evidence tends to be time-sensitive, so the sooner investigators preserve it, the better.
