Accident Report
September 1, 2026, a juvenile was injured following a school bus accident that happened around 2:57 p.m. along North Saint Joseph Avenue.
Authorities said that the collision happened off the corner of N. Saint Joseph Avenue and Duerson Lane in north Evansville.
It appears that a Evansville Vanderburgh school bus was in a parking lot along Saint Joseph when it began to turn around. While doing so, the bus somehow struck a juvenile. That juvenile, a 13-year-old girl, sustained serious injuries as a result.
No other injuries were reported. Additional details about the accident are unavailable at this time.

Maybe that’s what happened here. However, there could be things like distracted driving, inattention, inexperience, or other issues that need to be addressed.
One thing I wonder is if the bus had any video onboard that could help explain what happened here. A lot of them have cameras inside the cabin, which could reveal if the bus driver was doing something they shouldn’t have been doing or if they were being as careful as they could be. That sort of thing is often time-sensitive, so it would raise serious concerns if authorities haven’t been looking into that.
