If the allegations here are true, it’s important to understand that the story doesn’t begin and end behind the wheel. People hurt due to drunk driving also need to know if the provider that served that alcohol broke the law and played a role in the crash.
Simply put, negligent alcohol providers can be held responsible if they over-serve an intoxicated driver, and it leads to an accident. Authorities don’t always look beyond the crash scene, though, so actually getting victims and their families the help they need can require more thorough independent investigations. It’s possible the same will prove true here, as well.
