How Did This Accident Occur?
I certainly can’t answer this more than anyone else looking at public statements from OSHA. I’ve seen landscaping accidents that involved cars striking employees along the road. Sometimes mowers overturn. Tree limbs may fall. Workers may suffer a medical emergency. Sometimes these are entirely preventable accidents. Sometimes they’re not.
What’s important is for the victim’s loved ones to know they’re getting all the facts and that they have ample opportunity to work toward a fair resolution. That’s rarely ever simple. Texas just so happens to have the most complex work fatality laws in the whole country. Sometimes, families need professionals working for their interests to navigate that legal maze. If authorities have been more thorough here to help the family along, that would be good to hear. It’s just not the sort of thing I’d ever take for granted.
