Accident Report

Archer County, TX — July 17, 2026, Sandra Thomas and Mary Schroeder were injured in a suspected drunk driver accident just before 9 p.m. on U.S. Highway 281.

A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2024 Chevrolet Blazer was heading west on Lindemann Road when it collided with a southbound 2022 GMC Terrain, knocking the other vehicle into a utility pole.

GMC driver Sandra Thomas, 57, and passenger Mary Schroeder, 85, suffered serious injuries in the crash south of Scotland, according to the report.

The Chevrolet driver, who reportedly had been drinking, was listed as possibly injured, the report states. She is not facing any charges at this point.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Archer County crash at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

This crash likely will be investigated like any other injury accident, but authorities should look beyond the scene if blood tests confirm the Chevrolet driver was intoxicated. They should try to figure out where she had been drinking.

It’s one thing if she had been drinking at home, but if she had been at a bar or restaurant that alcohol provider could share responsibility for this accident if the driver was served while obviously intoxicated.
