Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

It’s obviously important when OSHA alleges serious violations following investigations into a deadly accident. However, that’s rarely the end of the story. In Texas, there isn’t always an automatic process for seeing there’s full accountability for an accident nor benefits for the worker’s loved ones. OSHA’s responsibilities are relatively narrow, so even if they take action to the fullest appropriate extent, that may just scratch the surface of actually getting a family the resolution they deserve. So while there are obviously some serious red flags surrounding this accident, there could be a lot more to the story than what the public has been shown so far.
