Accident Report

San Patricio County, TX — July 18, 2026, Samantha Cruz, Sara Cruz, Ruben Cruz, Sonia Montes and Sallie Montes were killed in a car accident at about 8:30 a.m. on State Highway 89.

Authorities said a southbound 2011 Toyota Tundra collided with a 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was heading south on the U.S. Highway 77 access road.

Jeep driver Samantha Cruz, 37, of Corpus Christi and three passengers — Sara Cruz, 63; Sonia Montes, 64; and Sallie Montes, 61 — were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to authorities. Another passenger, 68-year-old Ruben Cruz, died after being flown to a Corpus Christi hospital.

The Toyota driver, a 46-year-old San Antonio man, and his two sons were taken to a nearby emergency room as a precaution, authorities said.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the San Patricio County crash at this time.
