How Did This Accident Occur?

It is not clear what happened on F.M. 455 at this point. Did these two vehicles collide head on? Or did one rear-end another? Or did they collide as one was turning from Lake Crest Drive? Authorities should be able to sort that out pretty quickly, but they also should work to figure out what caused this accident.

That means poring over physical evidence, witness statements, data from the vehicles and any available video footage to reconstruct this accident. Cell phone records could show what each driver was doing at the time of the crash.

If authorities suspect a mechanical issue contributed to this crash, an independent expert likely will be needed to inspect the vehicles. Most law enforcement agencies lack the time or training needed to conduct a forensic examination of these vehicles, in my experience.

A thorough investigation should provide a clear picture of this crash, providing answers for the families affected by this accident.
