How Did This Accident Occur?

If the reports here are accurate, then they go to show why I find it so ridiculous when people automatically blame motorcyclists after a crash. In my experience, most motorcycle wrecks involve drivers in larger vehicles not keeping a proper lookout for the smaller riders and turning in front of them, veering into their lane and cutting them off, etc. It’s possible evidence may come to light and show that’s not what happened here. More likely, though, is that this was a motorcyclist minding their own business and suffering serious injuries because someone didn’t look closely enough before changing lanes.

Even if that is what happened, however, it’s crucial to have as much evidence telling the story as possible. As I said, a lot of people are quick to blame motorcyclists after a crash. Insurance companies know this, and they’ll try to exploit that bias. As such, having as much evidence as possible helps to ensure there are no gaps in the story that can be used to muddy the waters. This helps create a clear path between victims and the resolution they deserve.
