As I read these details, I have to wonder if authorities ever took the time to analyze the vehicle the victim was in for potential defects. If three people are involved in a serious wreck, but only one person gets injured, it raises the very serious possibility that something meant to protect them—like a seatbelt or airbag—didn’t function properly.
That’s not the sort of thing authorities generally have the tools or training to handle on their own. If possible, there may still be evidence that a more experienced independent accident reconstructionist might look at to determine if there was a way the victim’s injuries could have been avoided.
