Grapevine, TX — March 6, 2026, Russell Byrd was injured in a car at about 7:50 p.m. in the 1000 block of Texan Trail.
A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2012 Nissan Altima was heading north near East Dallas Road when it collided with a 2025 Honda CR-V and a 2020 Honda Odyssey while changing lanes.
CR-V driver Russell Byrd, 70, was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report, but the Odyssey driver and the child riding with him were not hurt.
The Nissan driver was listed as possibly injured, the report states.

How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s not clear at this point what caused this crash? Was the Nissan driver distracted, perhaps by a cell phone? Did one of the other vehicles change lanes at the same time? Did the Nissan have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism? In my experience, the best way to answer these questions is to wait until the investigation is complete.
Authorities likely will scrutinize physical evidence, witness statements, data from all three vehicles and any available video footage as they work to reconstruct this accident. Cell phone records could show what the drivers were doing at the time, but an outside expert likely will be needed if authorities suspect a mechanical problem contributed to this crash.
Most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training for a forensic examination of these vehicles, but it could be vital in providing the injured Honda driver and his family a clear picture of what happened on Texan Trail.
