How Did This Accident Occur?
Did the Chevrolet turn when it wasn’t safe? Was the Honda speeding through the intersection? Did either vehicle have a mechanical problem that contributed to this crash? I don’t pretend to know the answer to these questions as I sit at my desk, but these are the kinds of questions that authorities must answer in investigating this crash.
Investigators should find answers in evidence from the scene, data from the vehicles, witness statements and video footage of the crash. Any hint of a mechanical issue with either vehicle must be checked out by a qualified expert quickly, before the vehicle is scrapped or repaired.
A thorough investigation will yield enough facts to reconstruct this accident, showing what each driver and vehicle did before the collision. If police can’t provide those answers, then perhaps an independent investigation is warranted.
