Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
One of the often overlooked challenges with fatal accidents is making sure all sides of the story are told fairly. After all, one person isn’t around to speak for themselves. That’s why gathering as much clear evidence as possible is so important.
Sometimes, authorities are diligent in that regard, and they make sure the victim’s family knows they’re getting all the facts. Other times, though, a crash investigation may be treated as a low priority, which can lead to inaccuracies and gaps in the story. That’s when there may need to be more thorough independent investigations to make sure all the facts are brought to light.
