Accident Report

February 5, 2026, Roosevelt Patterson was injured due to a single-car-accident shortly after 12:15 a.m. along Interstate Highway 20.

According to authorities, 30-year-old Roosevelt Patterson was traveling in a westbound Ford Mustang on I-20 between Lasater Road and Belt Line Road when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the Mustang was involved in a single-vehicle collision in which it apparently collided with a utility pole.

Patterson reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

One possible cause of this accident will stand out to most: driver error. It’s a safe bet, statistically, since human error plays a part in the majority of car accidents. However, there are still a plethora of possible causes, and the investigation is not yet complete. I’ve analyzed hundreds of single-vehicle collisions over the years. Sometimes, it turns out the driver could have done little to nothing to prevent a collision. In those types of cases, it’s the vehicle itself that had underlying issues.

I’m not saying I know more about this specific wreck than anyone else; I’m just suggesting some hypotheticals. What if the Mustang blew a tire? Was there a problem with the throttle? Did it encounter a sudden issue with the braking system? What about steering? Was that working properly? Cars are complex machines; so many systems have to be working properly and in tandem in order for them to remains safe to operate.

The fact is, we won’t have answers until after the investigation is complete. Hopefully, the authorities get an inspection done on the Mustang in order to either rule out these sorts of issues or bring them to light. If they don’t, then maybe a third party investigation should be considered to cover all the bases. After all, Mr. Patterson deserves to have real answers backed up by concrete evidence, not excuses and assumptions that conveniently place all the blame on his own shoulders.
