When it comes to crashes like this, people tend to think things are always straight-forward or simple. Authorities seem to paint a clear picture of what happened, so what more could there be? Well, at the end of the day, people aren’t going to be dealing with the authorities. They’re going to be dealing with insurance companies who have one priority: avoid as much responsibility as possible.
This can take many forms. They might try to say the 18-wheeler did something wrong to cause the crash. They could try to blame the signage along the roadway for being misleading. They could accuse injured parties of not wearing their seatbelts. They aren’t necessarily trying to be convincing. They’re hoping the victims and families they’re up against won’t be prepared to counter them. At the end of the day, as long as there is room for them to paint their own picture, they’re likely to try it.
That’s why victims and families who want to cut past all of that nonsense are best served having as much clear evidence telling their side of the story as possible. It’s a lot more difficult for an insurance company to change the story when the truth is sitting right there in front of them for everyone to see. So regardless of what happened here, it’s important to consider that there truly are no simple car accidents. There are only accidents that leave too much room for speculation, and there are accidents that are handled by experienced, thorough accident reconstructionists who ensure the evidence speaks for itself.
