Lamar County, TX — May 18, 2024, Ronnie Burns and one other person were injured in a car accident at approximately 9:00 p.m. along U.S. Highway 271.
According to authorities, 68-year-old Ronnie Burns and a 62-year-old woman were traveling in a southeast bound Ford Edge SUV along U.S. 271 in the vicinity northwest of Kelsey Street when the accident took place.
The Ford Edge had reportedly slowed and come to a stop in preparation of making a left turn into a private drive, waiting for oncoming traffic to clear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the Ford was rear-ended by a Toyota Tundra pickup truck.
Burns suffered reportedly severe injuries as a result of the wreck. The woman who was with him in the Ford sustained moderate injuries, as well. They were each transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported.
