UPDATE (January 5, 2024): The identity of the victim in this accident has been confirmed to be 23-year-old Ronald Hector, of Houston, Texas.
Houston, TX — January 1, 2024, one person was killed in a single-car accident at approximately 6:55 in the morning along Richmond Avenue.
According to authorities, a 23-year-old man was traveling in a westbound Kia Forte along Richmond Avenue in the vicinity just west of the Buttercup Street intersection when the accident took place.
For reasons yet to be confirmed, the Kia failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It allegedly veered off of the side of the road, entered the sidewalk, and collided with a tree and a sign pole before coming to a stop. The 23-year-old—the sole occupant of the Kia Forte—reportedly incurred fatal injuries as a result of the crash; he was declared deceased at the scene.
