Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

I certainly don’t know more about this specific wreck than anyone else in the public, but experience gives me plenty of reason for concern. Generally speaking, there are two kinds of accidents where folks are more likely to unfairly blame the victim without knowing all the facts: single-vehicle wrecks and motorcycle wrecks. I always talk about the importance of letting the evidence speak for itself, but in wrecks like this, it’s all but necessary. Otherwise, any gap in the story is just room for people to unfairly speculate and blame the victim. I just hope authorities here have been more prudent than that and aren’t letting any kind of bias color their investigations.
