Accident Report
March 20, 2026, one person lost their life in a rollover truck accident just after 10:30 a.m. along State Highway 137.
According to authorities, a 59-year-old man from Homestead, Florida, was traveling in a southbound Freightliner 18-wheeler with a trailer in tow on S.H. 137 in the vicinity southeast of Ham Ranch Road when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the truck was traveling at allegedly unsafe speeds. It was consequently involved in a single-vehicle collision in which it overturned.
The man reportedly sustained fatal injuries over the course of the accident. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
When most people hear about an overturned truck accident where it was allegedly traveling at unsafe speeds, they tend to jump to conclusions about driver error being the cause. I, however, am not about to make that assumption. I’ve been in this line of business for over three decades. In that time, I’ve analyzed hundreds of truck accidents. There have been plenty of cases where careful investigation unearthed evidence of causes that were just not apparent at first glance.
To be clear, I don’t pretend to know more about this accident than anyone else outside of the investigation. I just want to point out that, hypothetically, the truck could have been suffering from brake failure or a throttle issue at the time of the wreck. Either of those things could have led to excessive speed and the subsequent overturn collision.
Hopefully the authorities are being as thorough and openminded as they should be in this investigation. An in-depth vehicle inspection done by a trained professional would be able to bring to light any mechanical malfunctions that might otherwise fly under the radar. If, for whatever reason, the authorities don’t get one done, then a third party investigation can always step in and take up that slack. That way all the bases are covered.
After all, the people were were affected by this accident—the loved ones of the man who ultimately lost his life—deserve to have real answers supported by solid evidence, not vague assumptions based on subpar, surface-level investigation that heaps all the blame on the shoulders of the deceased.
