El Paso, TX — December 15, 2023, one person was killed due to a rollover car accident at around 10:00 p.m. on Vista Del Sol Drive.
Preliminary investigations from officials say that the accident happened near the intersection of Valley Del Sol and Bob Hope Drive.

Officials said in initial statements that a 26-year-old man was in a Hyundai Veloster going eastbound on Vista Del Sol. For reasons unconfirmed, the vehicle traveled off the right-hand side of the road. There, it overturned. The crash ejected the driver from the vehicle during the rollover, and he died as a result.

Additional details about the crash have yet to be confirmed. There are also details that concern me, as I’ve seen them slip by authorities in the past. Namely, did authorities consider why the victim was thrown from the car? If not, they might have missed something important.
Let me give an example to help explain why I say this. Our firm had this case not long ago where a car crash resulted in a fatal ejection. Authorities investigated and ultimately said it was because the victim didn’t have their seatbelt on. That’s usually why ejections happen, but the victim’s family knew the victim always wore their seatbelt. Sure enough, when we had experienced independent investigators examine the vehicle, they found the seatbelt was defective. The victim wore it properly, but it failed due to issues no driver could have foreseen.
Authorities simply overlooked that crucial detail because they didn’t have the experience or tools to look for it. While that specific example is rather unique, many similar oversights happen all the time. That’s why it’s important to either ensure that authorities are looking at all possibilities or otherwise take steps to catch what they let slip through the cracks.
