Bastrop County, TX — January 26, 2025, Rogelio Pantoja and Jose Cabrera were injured as the result of a car accident at around 7:52 p.m. along F.M. 812.
Authorities said in preliminary reports that the accident took place in the area of the F.M. 812 and High View Ranch Drive intersection southeast of Austin.
According to officials, 28-year-old Rogelio Pantoja was in a Ford F-150 going eastbound. 36-year-old Jose Cabrera was in a northbound vehicle. The vehicles somehow crossed paths and collided. As a result, Pantoja was possibly injured while Cabrera’s injuries were said to be serious.
Right now, no further information can be confirmed.

With any car accident, there can be unique challenges to overcome. They can involve anything from distracted driving to road conditions to driver over-served by negligent alcohol providers to vehicle defects. Investigations can require time and equipment that officers aren’t always provided. I get calls all the time from folks who felt authorities couldn’t give them clear answers, and that meant there needed to be more thorough independent investigations. It’s possible authorities are being more thorough here, but it’s important to take preliminary reports with a grain of salt, as there could still be a lot of important information not getting the attention it needs.
