Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

Details suggest the arrested driver had been drinking, but authorities did not further specify their findings. If that’s true, are authorities also going to ensure they know where that alcohol came from?

Obviously, holding such a reckless driver accountable would be crucial, but alcohol providers often contribute to deadly wrecks by over-serving their customers, and they, too, need to be held accountable. Unfortunately, authorities sometimes are too narrow in their investigations, and an accomplice who contributed to a deadly wreck can escape consequences unless there are more thorough independent investigations. At the end of the day, there’s a family out there going through something no one should ever have to go through. Anyone and everyone responsible for such hardships should be investigated appropriately.
