July 2, 2026, Roberto Benavidez Sr. was injured as the result of a car accident that took place at 10:45 p.m. along I-10.

Initial details about the accident say that the accident took place along northbound lanes of I-10 in a construction zone in the area of Colorado Street and Brazos Street.

Investigators said that 58-year-old Roberto Benavidez Sr. was in an Infiniti going along I-10. A Toyota Tundra reportedly following too closely crashed with the Infiniti and a Ford Focus.
