How Did This Accident Occur?

It is not clear at this point which direction the dump truck was going at the time of this crash. Was it going south, like the Volkswagen? Or did it turn wide, into the Volkswagen’s path, when it had been heading north? That is probably clear to authorities at the scene, but that detail hasn’t been made public yet.

Investigators must figure out why the Volkswagen collided with the dump truck. Was the driver distracted? Did he have a medical emergency? Did the vehicle have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism?

If the official investigation can’t answer these questions to the family’s satisfaction, they may opt to have a third party take another look at this crash.
