A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2025 Kawasaki Ninja ZX motorcycle and a 2017 Chevrolet SS collided while changing lanes as both vehicles were heading north near SE Inner Loop. The impact caused the motorcycle to overturn.

Motorcyclist Robert Fender IV, 27, was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report.

The Chevrolet driver was not hurt, the report states.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Williamson County crash at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Initial reports say these two vehicles collided during a lane change, but did the car hit the motorcycle or vice versa? The difference matters because motorcycles are particularly vulnerable on the road.

I expect investigators to scrutinize data from the scene, data from the Chevrolet’s engine control module and any available video footage to reconstruct the crash. The motorcyclist may have had a helmet-cam or other connected devices that could provide insight as well. All of this is necessary to provide as many answers as possible for the injury rider and his family.
