Accident Report

March 31, 2026, Robert Collins was injured as the result of a hit-and-run accident at around 10:30 p.m. along Mansfield Road.

Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened at the intersection of Mansfield Road and Green Oaks Boulevard.

According to officials, 59-year-old Robert Collins was on foot in the area of northbound Mansfield. A white, 4 door 2021 Toyota Corolla reportedly struck Robert Collins. The driver reportedly fled the scene, but details suggest the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Due to the accident, Robert Collins was seriously injured. It’s unclear if the driver involved in the accident was identified or arrested.

How Did This Accident Occur?

While people might jump to conclusions with a pedestrian in the roadway while it’s dark out, there aren’t many drivers who flee an accident scene like this unless they were doing something wrong. Drunk driving, for example, is both common late at night and in hit-and-runs. Maybe that happened here. Or, it could be that there were other factors independent of the accident that led the driver to flee.

That obviously leaves a key question, did authorities ever identify and locate that driver? Usually when they have the vehicle in their possession, it’s just a matter of time before they find the driver, too. However, it might take putting more information out into the public to fully resolve this situation. Hopefully with the right evidence and continued pressure, there will ultimately be accountability for whatever led to this accident.
