Hopefully steps were taken to ensure authorities handled all of this carefully. Frankly, single-vehicle wrecks are something they don’t often prioritize, and even when they do investigate things, they’re often just looking for someone to blame. That can allow important details to slip through the cracks, such as in a case I handled a while back where they overlooked a victim’s seatbelt being defect. It took more thorough independent investigations to ensure the victim was able to tell their side of the story. Hopefully officials handling this incident didn’t make those same mistakes, but it’s unfortunately common.
