How Did This Accident Occur?

Was the driver distracted, perhaps by a cell phone? Did he swerve to avoid another vehicle? Did the Toyota have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism? I don’t claim to know the answer to these questions, but these are the kind of things that authorities should consider as they investigate this crash.

Investigators will pore over physical evidence, witness statements, vehicle data and any available video footage to piece together what happened at this intersection, while cell phone records could show if the driver was texting or interacting with an app at the time. A forensic examination will be needed if authorities suspect a mechanical problem contributed to this crash.

Most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training for such inspections, but the Toyota driver and his family deserve to know as much as possible about what caused this accident.
