Accident Report

January 9, 2026, Restituto Quintana Tarrillo was killed following a work accident that happened off of Interstate 35.

Preliminary investigations say the incident happened at a building off southbound I-35 near Oltorf Street. The cause of the death of 45-year-old Restituto Quintana Tarrillo was not confirmed. The online OSHA summary listed a “fall” and “construction” as relevant factors.

There do not appear to be any alleged violations or recommended penalties at this time. Investigations are ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

In these preliminary OSHA statements, there are usually more questions than answers. Seeing “construction” and “fall” listed together obviously raises some concerning possibilities, but I’ve seen all kinds of accidents on a job site have similar labels. It could be related to temporary structures collapsing. Heavy objects or machinery may have fallen and knocked the victim over. The victim may have had some unforeseeable medical emergency. OSHA looks into all of these possibilities, so it’s not unusual to me to see so few confirmed details available right now.

However, it’s frustrating when I hear that the families affected by fatal work accidents are getting equally sparse details about their loved one’s incident. It can surprise folks just how often I speak to people who waited for months and months to get answers only to be left empty handed. The unfortunate reality is OSHA tends to focus on their own priorities, and the needs of a family aren’t always high up on that list. So, getting a family the answers they deserve can require independent investigators stepping in to pick up the slack. Hopefully steps have been taken here to get clear answers for those affected by the accident.
