Accident Report

August 2, 2026, Rebekah Burge and three others were injured following a car accident at around 10:00 p.m. along Highway 114.

According to initial reports from officials, the accident happened at the intersection of TX-114 and Winding Meadows Drive, north of Fort Worth.

It appears that 18-year-old Rebekah Burge was in a Mazda going southbound through the crossing. Another vehicle was going westbound when it allegedly ran the light. As a result, it crashed into the side of the Mazda.

Due to the crash, Rebekah Burge reportedly sustained serious injuries. An adult and two minors from the other vehicle reportedly had non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say the driver who allegedly ran the light claimed to believe their light was green. Officials recommended citing the driver. Additional details remain unconfirmed at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

I certainly don’t have any reason to doubt any claims or conclusions made by authorities here. Generally speaking, I’ve seen a lot of drivers claim to have a green light only for evidence to show they were doing something wrong at the time of the crash, such as using their cellphone. That said, it’s important to always be thorough and at least rule out unusual possible explanations.

For example, it’s possible that there was something wrong with this light, causing it to malfunction or show green when it was supposed to show red. Is that likely? Not really, but there’s no harm in checking just to be sure. Like I said, maybe authorities already did that. But even if it turns out nothing unusual happened, victims and families generally have better outcomes when they’re able to rule out as many alternative explanations as possible. The fewer excuses insurance companies can make, the fewer barriers there will be between the family and the resolution they deserve.
