Fannin County, TX — October 14, 2024, Chiranjeevi Rajaneni, Gopi Thirumuru, Haritha Degapui, Danielha Rodriguez, and Maria del Carmen Santiz-Lopez were killed in a traffic accident in Fannin County.
Authorities say the incident occurred shortly before 6:00 p.m. on State Highway 121 near County Road 4165, northeast of Dallas. Preliminary investigation suggests Rajaneni was driving a Mercedes-Benz AMG GT south on the highway when he allegedly tried to pass someone in a no-passing zone. After crossing into the oncoming lane, the Mercedes collided head-on with a northbound Hyundai Tucson driven by Rodriguez.
Rajaneni and his passengers, Thirumumu and Degapui, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third passenger in the Mercedes was airlifted to an area hospital for treatment of critical injuries. Rodriguez and her passenger Santiz-Lopez were also pronounced dead at the scene.
