How Did This Accident Occur?

If everything authorities reported is true, then it’s at least good to see they’re not on the hunt for a runaway driver. But seeing someone held accountable for allegedly leaving an accident is one thing. Finding out why they fled is another. A lot of the time, it directly relates to the crash. They may have been intoxicated, driving recklessly, fleeing after stealing a vehicle, etc.

However, sometimes it’s unrelated. Driver may have warrants or be in possession of something they don’t want police to find out about. At the end of the day, my hope is that authorities don’t become so focused on the driver allegedly fleeing that they overlook the accident investigations. If their scope is too narrow, it may be up to independent investigators to step in and get clear answers about what led to the accident. That way, the victim’s loved ones will know they’re at least getting the full story.
