Shelby County, TX — June 27, 2024, Precious Redmond and a Center man were injured due to a car accident at around 7:30 p.m. along Highway 7.

According to initial details about the accident, it happened near Martinsville, about halfway between Nacogdoches and Center.

Investigators said that 29-year-old Precious Redmond was a passenger in a Ford F-150 driven by a 33-year-old Center man. They were going westbound along Highway 7 when the vehicle apparently lost control. It veered off-road, then overturned into multiple trees. As a result, the driver was seriously injured while Redmond had reportedly moderate injuries.

Right now, details are unconfirmed, but authorities say the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol. It could be that’s just speculation, since it’s a common factor. Or, it could be there’s clear evidence to support the allegation. If it is true, getting answers for those involved could become a lot more challenging, as investigators would have to find out where that alcohol came from.

Simply put, if a local alcohol provider illegally over-serves someone, and that leads to people getting hurt, those victims can hold those establishments accountable for their role in the accident. But if authorities don’t extend the scope of their investigations beyond the scene of the crash, they might let important evidence slip through the cracks. So whatever happened here, it remains to be seen if the investigations are being handled properly.
